Joseph Palmor — 40 Years of Sculpture

Joseph (Yossi) Palmor is an Israeli sculptor whose work moves between figurative and the abstract. Through his sculptures, he gives tangible form to what he seeks to express. Human motifs appear throughout his work, alongside his ongoing exploration of different materials and techniques.

Sculpture has been a way for me to give form to ideas, images, and thoughts that interest me. I begin with an idea, a way of thinking, a perspective, and search for the right way to bring it to life, with the material itself becoming part of the story.

Yossi discovered sculpture under the guidance of the late sculptors Uri Dub and later Tuvia Yuster. From there, he developed his personal path and established his own studio, where he continues to create today. Over the years, he has exhibited his work in solo and group exhibitions, and several sculptures are now displayed in public spaces. In 2009, he received the Herman Struck Award for Art from the City of Haifa.

His background as a mechanical engineer naturally influences the way he works. He uses stone, wood, glass, metal, and recycled materials, and constantly explores new materials and techniques.

At Kibbutz Ein Carmel, his studio has been at the heart of his practice for decades. It is where he thinks, experiments, meets with others, and… works.
